Which Version are Video Tutorials For?

Post by Psmith » Fri Apr 17, 2015 7:07 pm

The video tutorials are really well done - but it is unclear whether all the features and methods demonstrated apply to the Standard version or the Pro version.

I'd hate to purchase the software (rather expensive) - thinking that the features I thought I was getting are only available in the Pro version (much more expensive).

Can you clarify this, please?

Hello Greg,

Thanks for your interest in Creature. I can give you a quick summary of what you get with the Standard vs Pro version:

Standard Version
----------------------
Basically, if you want to do bone animation, skinning and want the automated bone motors stuff, get the Standard version.
This includes all your usual features: Rigging, Auto Bone Weighting, FK, IK, Animation Keyframes SpreadSheet/Curve Tool
as well as the advanced Bone Motors (Walking, Bouncing, Rope and Bend Physics)
All export options to images, video, FBX + Game Engines are in the Standard version.

This dragon animation for example is done with the standard version:

Pro Version
------------------
In addition to the standard features described above, you get Mesh Motors. Mesh motors allow you to directly run motors on the meshes themselves to achieve things like: Soft Body Physics ( for squishy characters, muscle action etc.), Control Pt FFD, Mesh Deformation via Cages, Flap Motors for Wings, Automated Blinking Eye Motors.

You also get Path Creation/Transfer. This allows you to create animations that follow along an animated spline curve, like this:

You also get rotoscoping, the ability to import video and images as a reference to your animation:

And finally you also get motion capture/transfer, the ability to transfer animation from a video into your animation rig:

Please let me know if you have any further questions!

Cheers,
Chong
