Animation mesh reduction

Post by furrfire » Sat Sep 21, 2019 8:12 am

Quick question for you Chong-
Animation mesh reduction on export cuts chuncks of corners but only on some regions. It looks like the regions I scale up in size that get the most cut on corners. Not sure if this is a bug or just a limitation. From your demonstration video on this feature, it looks like you are going way down in triangles and still not losing chunks of the artwork, so I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

Besides just having too few triangles, is there anything else that you know might cause that issue?

Hello,

There is in general a limit to what the mesh simplification algorithms can do. However, you can set resolutions differently for individual mesh regions to custom tailor it for your needs. The little gear icon on the right allows you to do that.

Thanks

Yeah I was trying that too before posting this, no luck there.
Alright, it's what I feared, thanks for the crazy fast response though.

All these issues are my fault anyways, I used too many dang triangles when I was new to creature.
Folks- if you don't need something to flex- don't use 200 triangles to make a mesh of it!
