Image from Atlas disappears when in Rig mode

Hello,

I have added an Image from Atlas that seems to disappear when going into Rig mode. The image mesh appears in Mesh mode but once I enter Rig mode, nothing is there. I'm really at a loss here...

You can watch some of the tutorials online that go through the various modes and how to get started.
